A brute, who battered and throttled his girlfriend in a Wishaw home, is facing a jail term.

Thug Daryn Murray carried out the violent attack on Jade Graham on April 16 at an address in Cleland Road, which left his partner with bruising and swelling on her eyes and face.

Murray appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday and admitted his guilt.

Fiscal depute Imran Bashir told the court Murray had returned to Wishaw following a night out in Glasgow.

An argument began but Murray was calmed down and the couple went to bed.

However, Murray became aggressive again and struck Ms Graham with a punch to the face.

He then pulled Ms Graham from the bed to the floor. The argument and incident was heard by neighbours next door.

Ms Graham made her way to the hallway but Murray then struck her head against a mirror.

In the living room Murray punched Ms Graham and threw her to the ground.

He then placed his hands around her neck and began to throttle her.

Ms Graham managed to get up from the floor and made attempts to contact family members.

Murray left the address a short time later with Ms Graham heading to her mother’s home a short time later.
