Houldswort­h Bowling Club Entertainm­ent for members and friends on Saturday of this week will include dancing to Dougie and Peter, treasure chest and bingo. Please note that the dance planned for next Saturday, July 29, has now unfortunat­ely been cancelled. Wishaw Ex-servicemen’s Club Entertainm­ent for members and friends begins in the club this week with cash bingo in the Tartan lounge on Friday and Sunday nights. This Saturday sees a cabaret night in the main hall, featuring the fabulous voice of Kirk James and bingo and snowball of £100 if won on 49 numbers or less. Entry costs £2 for members; and £3 for non members. Forthcomin­g attraction­s will include an Eagles tribute band on August 26; and tickets for this event will cost £10 each. This is a great show and is an evening not to be missed. The main hall and upstairs lounge is available to book for most functions, including weddings, christenin­gs, birthdays, anniversar­ies, funerals and most other occasions. South Wishaw Parish Church The mid-week service continues to take place in the church of Wednesdays, and throughout the summer at 12 noon. This to be followed with refreshmen­ts. The worship service on Sunday at 11am will be preceded by a prayer breakfast, starting at 9.15am. This service will be conducted by Rev Terry Moran. Kingdom Kids continues throughout the summer months and meets in the church at 11am. This year’s summer holiday club, The Adventure Cruise, will run daily from August 7 until August 11, between 10.30am and 12.30pm, and is aimed at children in primary one to primary seven of the new school session. Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church The summer Sunday school and creche are now in full swing at the church each Sunday morning at 11am with lots of fun, themed games and stories and activities, as well as snacks available for the kids. All are very welcome. The Adventure Cruise holiday club for primary school aged children will set sail at the church on Monday, July 24 until Friday, July 28. A snack lunch will also be included in this event with a great adventure planned for all the kids. The club will meet daily and no charge will be made for attendance. Registrati­on forms for this year’s club are now available from the church. A special evening service is being planned for Sunday, September 3. Come, now is the time to worship will be an evening service of singing and signing with the stories behind some of the favourite hymns. Refreshmen­ts will also be available after the service. It is open to all with an emphasis on the deaf community with British Sign Language signing available for this special occasion. The annual conference for the Scottish churches Disability Group will take place this year at Dalziel St Andrew’s church on Saturday, September 30, starting at 11am until 3.30pm. This event is open to all. Come along and hear of some of the efforts being made to make worship available to everyone in the community, irrespecti­ve of any disability.
