CAB funding boost to help

‘Journey to Employment’ project

- Michael Temlett

Motherwell and Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau have been given more than £ 50,000 to help disabled people get back into work.

The local CAB were given £55,000 from the Department for Work and Pensions to support those living with health conditions and disability by launching their ‘ Journey to Employment’ programme.

The initiative allows people to help each other gain confidence and skills which will help their prospects.

The scheme runs for 12 weeks and will provide support whilst not impacting on benefits during the job search.

The group will meet in the Isa Money Centre in Muirhouse one morning a week with CAB staff on hand to offer advice.

Alana For s y t h, business development manager, said: “Motherwell and Wishaw CAB are delighted to be launching this new programme to support people with ill health or disabilities.

“We are a Disability Confident employer and are working to help other organisations to recognise the many benefits of employing people with disabilities.

“By providing a welcoming, supportive environment within Journey to Employment, we aim to give people the tools they need to move forward in their lives and the ability to achieve personal goals.

“We realise that embarking on something new like this can seem daunting and would encourage anyone who might be interested to give us a call and we will be happy to answer your questions.”
