Heroes and villains theme delights

- Ross Thomson

Coltness was packed to the rafters with heroes and villains last week as the St Mark’s Church Holiday Club was in full swing.

The Cops and Robbers Holiday Club saw around 40 kids take part in a variety of activities including drama, singing and even a puppet show.

This year’s theme focused on the story of Joseph and St Mark’s minister, Rev Graham Austin, was delighted with the success of this year’s club.

He said: “We have had a great response this year from the kids.

“This year’s theme is all about the life of Joseph and his many adventures and everyone has participated really well.”

Graham also paid tribute to the hard work of the volunteers who helped make this year’s holiday club such a success.

“We’ve had tonnes of fun this week and that’s just the volunteers,” he said. “We have a great team of people here and that makes a real difference.

“Whether it’s the leaders who are putting on the activities for the kids or the people who are putting on the lunches, everyone is helping out.”

Although the holiday club was taking place in the mornings there were also a number of events in the evening for the whole family to enjoy including a film screening and a family fun night.

Of course it’s not the only events held in St Mark’s for youngsters with the church hall packed throughout the year.

These include Brownies, Guides, Rainbows, Boys’ Brigade and Messy Church.

Graham added: “Over the week we have youth activities in the hall almost every night. It’s a very busy place.

“We couldn’t do the work we do without the volunteers who give up their time and help us.”
