Student Colette’s trip to help Malawi kids
A Motherwell youngster is getting set to change the lives of underprivileged children in Malawi.
Colette Wilson is heading across to Africa next month with eight other students from the University of Strathclyde.
Whilst in Malawi, the 20-year-old will be helping out in schools and the Primary Education student is holding a race night next month to help raise funds. The group of students, supported by the Strathclyde Alumni Fund, are also climbing Ben Lomond are going on a six-hour guided walk whilst in Malawi.
Colette leaves on September 14 but with the race night on September 2 at St Bernadette’s Church Hall in Motherwell, she is looking for as much support as possible. Colette said:“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while and going into my last year at uni I thought now would be the time to do it.
“One of the schools we’re supporting is the Makokezi School which is a school for orphans.
“For us to be able to support them, we’re doing fundraising and I’m holding a race night along with a fellow student, Kelly Paterson, on September 2.
“We’re looking to see if anyone can help out by coming along, donating raffle prizes or supporting us on JustGiving.”
If you can support Colette and the group of students heading off to Malawi, head along to St Bernadette’s Church on September 2 or go to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ba4.
