Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church After the recent successful summer Sunday school, the Sunday school, Fusion Bible class, and creche will be back in action at the church this Sunday at 11am. All children will be most welcome. Morning worship continues at 11am. For those unable to attend, there is an opportunit­y to share in the worship via the online live service or by catch-up on You Tube. All services include a British Sign Language signer for the deaf and the skills of an electronic note taker for the hard of hearing. The youth organisati­ons at the church will resume again soon with the Girls’ Brigade beginning on Wednesday, August 23, followed by the Boys’ Brigade on the evening of September 1. Rainbows, Brownies, Guides will enrol on Monday, September 4. There will be a special songs of praise service on the evening of Sunday, September 3, at 6.30pm. It will feature singing and signing for the deaf with several volunteers from the congregati­on assisting. This is open to all with refreshmen­ts available in the hall after the service. An open invitation to attend this special evening is extended to all those in the community who are deaf or hard of hearing. The first messy church event of the autumn is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 10, starting at the usual time of 3.30pm. This will be focused on young families and includes lots of fun and games, arts and crafts, as well as snacks and will conclude with a meal at around 5pm. There will be no charge made for attendance. To assist with planning, those wishing to attend are asked to register on the church website. South Wishaw Parish Church The Wednesday mid-week service continues in the church today at 12 noon. The worship service on Sunday at 11am will be conducted by Rev Alex Brown. Communion services on September 3 will be held at 11am and 3.30pm. Please note the change of time for the afternoon service. Now Church will be held on September 3 at 2pm with lunch for attendees taking place at 1pm. Items for the next edition of the Compass magazine should be submitted by tomorrow (Thursday). The 4th Wishaw Scout Group will be celebratin­g their 90th anniversar­y this year with a celebratio­n in South Wishaw Church on Friday, September 15, at 7pm. All former members and leaders and anyone who was involved with the group are invited to join them for this event. Any ex-leaders or ex-members who can provide photos of their time with the Scout group or memorabili­a that they would be willing to lend for the evening are asked to contact the Scout Group Leader, Ian Lindsay, on 01698 331864 or by email at ian118@ blueyonder.co.uk. Houldswort­h Bowling Club Saturday will see dancing in to club to John Weir plus bingo and treasure chest. All welcome. Girls’ Brigade sessions are ready to start back after their summer break. The 5th Motherwell Company will resume at St Margaret’s Church hall, Muirhouse on Tuesday, August 22. This will be a normal night where enrolment forms can be filled in when girls have been dropped off. The Explorer section for girls in primary one to three meets between 6pm and 7pm, Juniors are aged from primary four to seven and meet between 6pm and 7.45pm, and Brigaders for girls in S1 upwards meet from 7pm to 8.45pm.
