To celebrate the release of Patti Cake$, the Wishaw Press have teamed up with our friends at Vue Cinema in Hamilton to give one lucky reader a chance to win a pair of tickets to see the movie.
Patti Dumbrowski (Cathy Moriarty) has a big attitude – and she needs it. Living in the run-down area of Bergen County, New Jersey, critics surround her, waiting to attack at every opportunity. She gets picked on for her size, her looks, and, most of all, her aspirations: Patti dreams of being a rap star.
Even her own mother (Bridget Everett) doesn’t believe that rap is‘real music’, and is quick to remind her that people don’t tend to get out of small-minded Bergen County, let alone get famous. However, Patti isn’t just anyone.
With the support of her oddball friend Hareesh (Siddharth Dhananjay) and her grouchy grandma Patti teams up with a local producer.
And the seemingly mismatched outcasts begin to work together.
