A 50th anniversary celebration for Law and District Athletics Club was a runaway success.
Held at the John Cumming Stadium in Carluke, athletes from across North Lanarkshire enjoyed a day of athletics and entertainment.
A total of 150 athletes picked up medals for their participation with tiny tots running too.
The youngsters competed in the 100m, 400m or 600m, shot put and long jump and had the backing track thanks to a DJ who kept everyone entertained with running commentary and top tunes.
Lesley McNicol, from Law and District Athletics Club, said:“We were extremely fortunate to receive a grant of £3300 from the Big Lottery Celebrate Fund and used this money to provide everyone with a goodie bag of a t-shirt, cap, water, snack and draw string bag.
“Tea and coffee was provided free of charge all day and the 200 attendees – between athletes, officials, volunteers and parents – all had a splendid day!”
The celebrations will continue at the club next month with a formal event at the New Lanark Mill Hotel with past and present members sharing their memories of the club.
