Teen, 17, walks free from court

-

A teen has walked free from court after admitting behaving in a threatening manner in a Motherwell street.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week for sentencing after pleading guilty to both charges against him.

On July 7 last year, the teenager behaved in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause fear and alarm in Fort Street by repeatedly shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner.

He also threw a glass tumbler at a wall causing damage to it and made threats of violence.

The final charge the 17-year-old admitted was resisting two police officers on the same date.

During the course of the incident the teenager lashed out with his arms and kicked out with his legs against the two officers.

In court last week, the 17-year-old was admonished and dismissed by the Sheriff meaning he was free to leave the dock.
