Logan Smith Connor Boslem Special Olympics heroes rake in clutch of medals
The magnificent seven swimmers from Clyde Valley Beavers Disabled Sports Club were Special Olympics heroes.
Whilst the 32- strong Scotland West swim team scooped 54 medals in Sheffield, the seven athletes from Clyde Valley bolstered the squad with their big wins.
Connor Boslem and Logan Smith picked up gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay team and 13-year-old Logan also picked up gold in the 50m backstroke and silver in the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly.
Connor won bronze in the 50m backstroke and butterfly and Wishaw woman Catherine Kennedy added to the success with two silvers.
Saffron Croly won silver in the 50m backstroke and breaststroke as well as being part of a team bronze.
Taylor Milligan won bronze in the 25m backstroke whilst Andrew Mitchell recorded top performances in the freestyle and backstroke as did Lindsey Fleming.
Coach Carolyn MacFarlane praised the squad for their hard work and helping Scotland West to an impressive tally.
She said: “All seven swimmers enjoyed the full Olympic Games experience which also involved an opening ceremony and staying in an athlete’s village.
“Clyde Valley Beavers are proud of everything these swimmers have achieved and the swimmers are thankful for the all the support they received both at the games and from their team mates and families.”
