Worst yet for United boss
St Anthony’s ......... 7 Newmains United . 1 Newmains United manager Kevin Muirhead described Saturday’s performance as‘the worst he has seen since joining the club’.
The United gaffer was left fuming after his side were thrashed 7-1 by the Ants.
Muirhead believes his squad have regressed in the past few months and was left demanding answers at full time on Saturday.
He said:“It was a sore one and left me with a lot to think about.
“That was by far the worst performance I’ve seen since coming to the club.
“We had a chat with the boys after but there was no need me going berzerk at them because that won’t do us any favours.
“I told the guys they needed to start speaking to try and find out what was going wrong.
“Last year we didn’t get beat off St Ants and this year we’re getting thrashed by them. It’s shocking.
“It seems like all the clubs who we were level with last year have improved whilst we’ve went back by a long way.
“We need to try and attract players with a bit of quality but that’s hard to do when you can’t offer them anything and your rivals do.”
