Fab eyes in less than five

-

I remember the halcyon days of being able to take the time and make the effort to do up my own face – and far from being a busman’s holiday, it was rather nice since I spend the rest of my time helping others look fabulous.

But being a busy mum and running a business means I have no time to myself – Me time? Zip, zero, nada.

Gone are the days of spending 20-30 minutes in front of the mirror doing my make up – these days I’m lucky if I manage to get any on at all, but if I do it then needs to be on the face in double quick time.

I’m sure there will be tons of ladies out there that can relate to this.

We don’t really have the time to make the effort but at the same time, we still want to look good.

So I have a very quick eye make up technique that will take you all of five minutes but will leave your eyes looking amazing.

And don’t worry, you don’t need to be good at make up to get this right as smokey eyes don’t have to be perfect.

1. Prime your eyes. My favourite is benefit Stay Don’t Stray.

Sweep a small amount across your eye lids, up to the brow bone.

This look might take five minutes but it has to stay put so primer is a must.

2. Apply an eye pencil across the lid and into the crease of your eyes.

You can use black or a grey or brown if you would prefer it a little softer.

Blend it with your finger, it doesn’t have to be perfect.

3. Draw the same pencil under and around your eyes and smudge it.

4. Take an eye shadow that has a bit of shimmer, ideally a grey, brown, navy or even black if you want to go bold.

A shimmer shadow is so much easier to blend so it takes far less time.

Apply on top of the pencil and into the crease area.

Also under the eye and blend it into the liner. Blend away the edges to create a soft faded edge. A blending brush is ideal for this.

5. Apply lots of mascara and voila, you’re good to go in less time that it takes to boil the kettle!

This is pretty much my eye look these days and it can be softened for day time wear or made more dramatic for the evening.
