Shotts and District Rotary Club have been drawn against Lockerbie Rotary Club at home in the first round of the annual District 1020 quiz. The date has still to be confirmed. The Rotary’s sponsored walk will take place at Lanark Loch on Sunday, September 24, with the majority of the proceeds going to local groups, clubs and organisati­ons. Meetings are held in the Station Hotel every Wednesday evening. The guest speaker on September 13 will be former Shotts man Bill McSeveney. EU Congregati­onal Church Ladies’ fellowship will be held in the church this Friday at 10.30am. The service on Sunday mornings is at 11.30am and singing group meets on Tuesdays at 7pm. Salvation Army The friendship club meets on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm. The youth club meets on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm followed by band practice from 7pm to 8pm. The toddlers group meets on Thursday mornings from 9.30am until 11.30am and the prayer meeting is in the evening at 7pm. Friday Club meets at 5.45pm, followed by the Jam club, from 6.45pm to 7.45pm. The Sunday morning meeting this week will be a harvest service at 10.45am and will be led by territoria­l envoy Jane Kemp. The annual collection starts on Monday and there will be a book sale in he hall on Wednesday, September 20, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 7pm. Bon Accord Club Singer Alana Johnson will be performing in the lounge this Saturday, from 7.30pm. The function hall is available to hire for events and weddings. Tickets are available for the Shotts District LOL annual buffet dance on Saturday, September 9, with dancing to Gee Jay Wilson and Liz Sloan. Shotts Bowling Club Bingo is held on Thursdays at 8pm. The club are celebratin­g their 150th anniversar­y, with entertainm­ent for the evening being provided by Easton on Friday, September 8, from 7.30pm until midnight; tickets cost £2.50 each. There is dancing to Johnnie Weir on Saturday night from 8pm. Finals day was held in the club last weekend, when the ladies section championsh­ip winner was Tina Russell, with runner-up Christine Stevenson. President’s winner was Lily Bennett and runnerup was Christine Stevenson. Past President’s winner was Lily Bennett, non-winners competitio­n winner was Jamima Duncan, with runner-up Agnes Moore; pairs winners were Liz Miller and Liz Shearer. Gents section
