New signings will help Utd
Newmains United . 1 Gartcairn Juniors .. 5 Kevin Muirhead believes his new signings will help Newmains United get back on track.
With three defeats to start the season, the United boss admits his side have work to do but hopes the addition of Luke Martin and Justin Watson from Stirling Albion as well as experienced goalkeeper Scott Perry will bolster his side.
He said:“A 5-1 scoreline is never great but even Davie Greig (Gartcairn manager) admitted it didn’t reflect the game.
“Our inability to deal with set pieces is what cost us but we made a big improvement on last week’s performance against St Anthony’s.
“The boys who we’ve brought in made a big difference because they demanded to be on the ball.
“We need players who are going to be brave and that’s exactly what they were.
“In Scott Perry as well we have an experienced goalkeeper who is raging he conceded five goals but pulled off some great saves.
“We looked a lot fitter than Gartcairn and we knew we’d score.
“When it went 2-1 we started to believe we could get something out the game so it was disappointing to concede so soon after.
“But there are a lot more positives from this performance.”
