COMEBACK BID IS KO’D Now Scott turns his attention to birth of baby girl

- Michael Temlett

Scott Allan was left gutted after his big fight with Kash Farooq was postponed.

The Shotts scrapper was ready to go toe to toe with Glasgow fighter Farooq on September 9 at the Paisley Lagoon Centre. However, the 25- year- old – who celebrated his birthday on Sunday following the announcement – was left waiting after the promoter cancelled the full event.

The duo first faced off back in January when Farooq shocked the Scottish bantamweight champion in a non-title fight.

This time around the belt would have been on the line but the coach – who works at Rival’s Gym in Wishaw – admits whilst he is gutted, he is now looking forward to a new arrival to his family.

The Shotts boxer said: “I’m absolutely gutted to be writing this but my fight with Kash Farooq has been cancelled due to pull outs the promotor has cancelled the full event. “Devastated doesn’t begin to cut it. “Apparently there was to many calloffs for the show to go ahead. I was ready, my part was done I was ready as ever to dance under those lights.

“At least now all my focus will be on my baby girl being born!”

Allan had been all set to walk out to the ring wearing claret and amber after getting support from his boyhood team, Motherwell.

The former kickboxing world champion has spoke of his ambition of being able to box in front of a packed Fir Park crowd but admits taking on Farooq is the number one priority.

The Shotts man was out for revenge following a display back in January which he labelled as ‘shocking’.

He said: “It’s amazing the club I’ve followed my whole life is supporting me in boxing.

“I was six when Stevie Hammell walked me out as a mascot against Hearts and I remember seeing what looked like millions of people and I was blown away by it.

“When I was 11 I won a world kickboxing title and they brought me in for lunch with the players.

“I met loads of guys like James McFadden, Hammell, Stephen Pearson, Keith Lasley and I was starstruck.

“One day I’d love to box in front of a sold out Fir Park and that will always be my dream.

“But right now I only have the fight against Kash on my mind.

“When we fought at the start of the year I wasn’t at my best and I knew that.

“I’m absolutely gutted the fight is off and hopefully it’ll get rescheduled soon.”
