Woman pushed out of a window

Man, 33, on trial over 4 assault charges

- Court reporter

A Craigneuk man will stand trial in November accused of attacking his partner twice in one month, including a claim he pushed her out of a window.

Thomas McLau g h l i n appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week and maintained his pleas of not guilty, in relation to the alleged assaults on Rene Cotton in July.

All four charges against McLaughlin are claimed to have taken place at his home in Flaxmill Avenue.

The 33-year-old is accused of assaulting his partner on July 24 by seizing her by the hair, dragging her, seizing her by the body and pushing her out of a window.

On the same date the accused is alleged to have behaved in a threatening manner by shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner towards the complainer.

The other two charges against McLaughlin, which he also denies, are alleged to have taken place at the same address on July 9.

He is accused of assaulting Ms Cotton on that date by seizing her by the hair, dragging her to the ground, repeatedly slapping her on the face and pushing her on the body onto a bed.

On the same date, it is alleged McLaughlin behaved in a threatening manner likely to cause fear and alarm by shouting, swearing, acting in aggressive manner, making offensive remarks towards Ms Cotton and refusing to the leave the property when asked to do so.

The Craigneuk resident will return to court to stand trial on November 2. His bail was continued.
