Racist remarks at man on train

British Transport Police officers have launched an investigat­ion following an incident where two men ran through a train travelling from Motherwell shouting racial remarks towards an Asian man.

The incident happened at 10.41pm on July 30 on board the 9.53pm ScotRail service from Motherwell to Milngavie.

The two men ran through the train shouting ‘ terrorist’ and ‘ISIS’ towards an Asian man.

A passenger on board the service alerted police by texting 61016.

The text service allows incidents to be reported by those on the train anonymousl­y.

A BTP spokespers­on said: “Officers would like to speak anyone else who was travelling on the service at the time and noticed the men shouting.

“Everyone has the right to travel on the rail network without fear or intimidati­on and nobody should be subjected to this kind of behaviour.”
