Bungard’s fury
Bungard hit out at the fight decision
Motherwell MMA star Chris Bungard believes he was‘robbed’after losing his British title fight.
The 28-year-old took on hometown hero Colin Fletcher in Sunderland where the two battled it out for the British Lightweight title.
In front of a packed crowd of almost 4000 people, Bungard believed he did enough to silence Fletcher and his supporters.
However, the judges awarded the fight to former Bellator and UFC fighter Fletcher and Bungard was left disappointed.
A gutted Bungard said:“I thought I won the first couple of rounds, but then he won the third.
“They’ve given the fight to him and it was robbery.
“I took him down in every round and defended well against his submission attempts that I knew he would try.
“When I watched the fight back, it was a disgrace that I didn’t win.
“The fight was an absolute war and, because I’m lighter, I was always going to be tired in the final round.
“He came to the ring dressed as a clown but I wasn’t intimidated by him.
“I was loving it and the crowd were going wild.
“It’s definitely the loudest atmosphere I’ve had so far in my career.”
