Defiant Muirhead will not quit United

-

Vale of Leven ........ 8 Newmains United . 0 Newmains United boss Kevin Muirhead insists he will do his best to turn around the misfortunes at the Victoria Park club.

Gutted gaffer Muirhead admits he feels‘embarrassed’at the recent results suffered by Newmains but vowed to stay on as manager.

With United sitting rock bottom having conceded 25 goals in their opening four games, Muirhead believes his side seem devoid of confidence.

He said:“We just weren’t good enough on Saturday and it’s the same story we’ve had before this season.

“It’s clear that we’re a mile off and it’s frustrating and embarrassing.

“I’ve loved football since I first kicked a ball 30 years ago but I’m not enjoying it now.

“I sat with my coaching staff on Saturday after the game and we talked about just throwing in the towel.

“But you can’t just chuck it when you’re Newmains manager because where do you go from there?

“I don’t want to be walking around Braehead shopping on a Saturday afternoon, I want to be enjoying football but right now that’s not happening.

“We need more experience but we can’t do that with the level of player we attract and we can’t offer them anything so they don’t want to come.”
