Pupils in prizes
2016-17 S3-S6 CELEBRATING SUCCESS CEREMONY
The ceremony, to recognise pupil achievement in third to sixth year for session 2016- 17, took place recently. This event recognised success of students from third through to sixth year on a wide variety of fronts including academic achievement, consistency of achievement, contribution to school and community, sporting success and attendance among other areas. The school thanks local councillor and convenor for education, Frank McNally. He was a very motivating and inspiring speaker who spoke eloquently to the young people, many who are about to embark on new journeys beyond Taylor High. They thank Councillor McNally for his words and advice to the young people at this memorable event and for demonstrating to them that there are many different routes to success. This was, as always, a very successful evening with a number of musical interludes presented by staff and students of the music department led by principal teacher Fiona Cannon.
The music as always was truly spectacular with Mr Chris Geddes who played the bagpipes, starting the evening with Highland Catherdral with both the performance and songwriting talents of many of the young people on display throughout each performance. The jazz band also provided a highly enjoyable performance for the guests on the evening supported by department staff and peripatetic music staff.
This was well received by pupils, parents and invited guests. They would also like to thank to Mrs Colette Brown who coordinated the event with the support of a large number of staff and pupils. A particular thanks to the superb music department led by Fiona Cannon, principal teacher of music, and her colleagues for the outstanding entertainment provided on the night. And finally, the school thanks the team of office staff for the all the work that went on behind the scenes. The night proved extremely poignant and moving in places and congratulations goes to all the young people on their outstanding success.
