Shotts and District Rotary Club have been drawn against Lockerbie Rotary Club at home in the first round of the Annual District 1020 Quiz which takes place on October 4 in the Station Hotel, Shotts. The Rotary Annual Sponsored Walk will take place at Lanark Loch on Sunday September 24, with the majority of the proceeds go to local groups, clubs and organisati­ons. Meetings are every Wednesday evening in the Station Hotel, Shotts. Lodge St. John 471 The next regular meeting is Friday, September 22 at 7.30pm in the Orange Hall. Members please note that the 150th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n Service is on Saturday, September 16, in the Orange Hall at 6pm. There will be a meal followed by entertainm­ent and tickets are £20. All members are welcome and an amnesty for fees will apply. Commemorat­ive gifts will be presented. On October 13, there will be a special meeting when the founder member lodges will be attending. Shotts Community Council meets on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend. Shotts Slimming Group Classes take place every Wednesday at 9.30am, 5pm and 7pm in Epic Studios, Shottskirk Road (above Ladbrokes at Dykehead Cross). Everyone going along will be made most welcome. New members are welcome. Artskool An exciting project for children and adults alike, Artskool offers art classes for all ages. Mondays from 6pm till 7.30pm is for ages 8 to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am till 12noon is for adults, with a class for 4 to 7 year olds from 6pm till 7.30pm. On Wednesdays from 6pm till 7.30pm, there’s a class for ages 12 and up. Additional classes can be scheduled based on demand.
