Stabbed to death at Old Firm match party
Police appeal after Paul, 23, murdered in his flat
A former Clyde Valley High School pupil was brutally stabbed to death at a house party last weekend after watching the Old Firm clash with friends.
Paul Bexley, 23, was killed following a fight at his flat in Baldovan Crescent in Easterhouse, shortly after midnight on Sunday.
Paul, a former resident of St a n h o p e P l a c e, Gowkthrapple, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with horrific stab wounds and was pronounced dead a short time later.
Paul is believed to be the father of a young son and his girlfriend was said to be expecting another child.
A post- mortem will be carried out but police said they are treating Paul’s death as murder.
A search of the area uncovered a baseball bat in bushes directly across the road.
Police also searched storm drains towards the Glasgow Fort shopping centre in the hunt for the murder weapon.
A neighbour described hearing cries for help.
He said: “I heard a commotion, it was very loud. There was shouting – lots of voices, then I heard the wailing.
“I knew then someone had been seriously injured. It was really bad, a horrible sound.
“The cry was so loud then it all went quiet. Then I heard sirens. It’s so sad.”
Detective Inspector Mark Henderson said: “A young man has lost his life in a senseless and violent attack and it is absolutely vital that we trace the person responsible.
“We understand there was a party in the flat where the incident took place and people in attendance will have witnessed what happened. I would appeal to these people to do the right thing and tell the police what they know.”
