Motherwell Photographic Society At this week’s meeting the guest speaker was Billie Currie, an award-winning photographer with a number of interests including landscape, macros and architecture. He explained to the members that, in his opinion, the best photographs were achieved by moving from auto to manual mode and he illustrated his points with a very informative presentation. During his talk he detailed several key areas for members to consider when shooting in all weathers and conditions and stressed the importance of using a processing programme to enhance the final image. He showed examples of before and after photographs taken in poor light and bad conditions, highlighting the impressive difference made by the processing programme. The meeting on Thursday will be a practical night and members will be given the opportunity to photograph a model if they so wish. The provisional start date for the beginners’ classes this session will be Friday, October 13, and will be confirmed shortly. The Society meets on Thursdays evening at 7.30pm in Holytown Community Centre, Stevenston Street, Holytown and welcomes anyone with an interest in photography, no matter their level.
