The Beltane Park manager was thrilled with the way his side played despite having five players away on holiday. And he believes a selection headache in the coming weeks is a positive

Brogan said: “It was a great result and an even better performance. I said to the boys before the game that I wanted us to put our stamp on the game and make a statement.

“We did, we were absolutely outstanding and, in truth, we should never have conceded because it wasn’t a penalty.

“We had five regulars missing – Michael Collinder, Liam McKane, Craig Crawford, Joe McCafferty and Ryan Smillie. When someone like Ryan is out people think we might struggle for goals but we have managed to score 11 in two games.

“Based on that performance, he might struggle to get back in the team!

“We’ve changed the system with the personnel we have and it has worked for us, we’re always improving.”

Wishaw will be looking to build on their performance after McGuire’s hat-trick and strikes from KB Grant and Dan Kindlan saw them ease home.

Now the Beltane Park outfit face Blantyre Victoria this weekend.

The Vics have suffered a stuttering start to the season, winning two and losing three so far. But Brogan insists the inconsistency is not something he is paying much attention to.

He said: “I watched them against Thorniewood and they looked good.

“I thought afterwards they would be up challenging near the end of the season and I still think they are more than capable of going on a run.

“It will be a tough game but we’ll just need to try and continue our good run.

“We’ve only lost one and we’ve got a good goal difference already so we’ll be fully focused.”
