Cambusneth­an Old and Morningsid­e Parish Church Mr Ian White will lead the worship service this Sunday at 11.30am which will be the church’s harvest thanksgivi­ng service. Anyone wishing a pastoral visit from the minister should contact him on 01555 890704. Sunday school and creche will meet as usual during the service. All are welcome to join the congregati­on at any of the above services. The church organisati­ons have now begun their new sessions with the lunch club meeting on Fridays, between 11.30am and 12.45pm, when new members will be made most welcome. The Guild meets in the small hall on Tuesday evenings at 7.15pm, and all past and new members will be warmly welcomed. Mother and toddlers meet on Wednesday mornings, and anyone wishing to book a place for their child should speak to Shona McLeish for further informatio­n. The choir practises have resumed on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm, and are always looking for new members to come along and join them. The Girls’ Brigade meets in the church halls on Wednesday evenings at the usual times. Explorers meet from 6.15pm to 7.15pm, with Juniors meeting between 7pm and 8pm, and Brigaders from 7.30pm to 9pm. Morning worship on Sunday, October 29, will celebrate the centenary of the 1st Cambusneth­an Girls’ Brigade. This will be followed later that day with an afternoon tea being held in the Dalziel Park Hotel. Tickets for this event cost £15, and these are available from any Brigade officer, who look forward to greeting all those who would like to come along and help them to celebrate this auspicious occasion. The Boys’ Brigade’s Junior section (P4 to P6) meets on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, and the Anchor Boys (P1 to P3) meet in the large church hall on Tuesday evenings, from 6pm to 7pm. The Company and Senior sections for P7+ meet in Coltness High School on Friday evenings from 7.15pm to 9.15pm. All boys and girls are welcome to join these companies on these evenings. The church will be hosting an evening to celebrate the retiral of Rev Iain Murdoch on Saturday, November 4. Further informatio­n will be contained in the next edition of the church magazine which will be issued later this month. Cambusneth­an Club Entertainm­ent in the club this week begins with social dancing in the concert hall on Thursdays plus cash bingo. Friday sees a cabaret and dancing plus bingo. Saturday sees cabaret and dancing in the concert hall, featuring top vocalists Frankie B and Emma Cowie. Bingo, snowball of £150 and treasure chest of £500. There is dancing to Donnie Findlay on Mondays plus bingo with Slimming World class on Tuesdays at 7pm. Bookings are now being taken for Christmas Party Nights, priced £20 per person, and include dancing to Perfect Scoundrels. The New Year Dance list is up on the noticeboar­d and members attending the event are asked to sign up as soon as possible. Pre-show meals are also available for parties on Saturdays.
