We may not be past Hallowe’en yet but the scariest thing for some shoppers is the alarming amount of Christmas stock on sale.

With just under seven weeks until Christmas Day, retailers across the country have started filling their shelves with festive favourites.

Whilst youngsters may be planning their lists for Santa, the rest of us are still trying to put off any Christmas shopping.

We asked residents what they made of the stores who are already gearing up for the big day in December.

Donna McMahon, who works for a retailer in Motherwell, said: “It’s been the same for a few years now and I think everyone is getting used to it.

“It probably is too early though and we’re not passed Hallowe’en yet.”

Piet Koos said: “I think the right time to start selling the stuff is after Hallowe’en.

“But I work for a paintball company and we’re already trying to sell gifts for Christmas.”

Natalia McDonald has had experience working in a store at Christmas time but believes there is nothing wrong with it.

She added: “I think it’s fine to start at this time of the year because people like to start their shopping this early as well.”

Nicola McManus also admitted she doesn’t have a problem with the early Christmas stock.

She said: “If you like Christmas and get excited for it then there’s no problem with it. I’ve already started my Christmas shopping.”
