Sweeping success for foodbank base

-

A Motherwell man went wild in the aisles during a five-minute trolley dash around Aldi.

Ben McEwan was chosen as the winner of an in-store competition to dash around the store.

And, as well as taking home trollies full of goodies, Aldi matched the value of his £400 haul and donated the total to his nominated charity, Bellshill Foodbank.

Winner Ben said: “I am so happy to win all these goodies.

“With all this food I definitely won’t have to go shopping for a while!

“Taking part in the sweep was a once-in-alifetime opportunity and I’m so grateful to have been picked – it was a really fun experience.

“It’s fantastic that Aldi are going to donate the value in vouchers to the Bellshill foodbank too.

“I know how tough it can be to make ends meet at times and I’m glad my success will help lots of other families as well.”

Group buying director at Aldi in Scotland, Graham Nicolson, added: “We created the Aldi Supermarket Sweep as a fun way for our shoppers to help support their local community and get at least a few days’ worth of shopping for themselves at the same time.

“After being chosen as our local winner, Ben has scooped an astonishing amount of treats for himself and helped raise a huge amount for a local community foodbank.”
