Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church All adult and youth organisati­ons have now resumed at the church. The men’s club meets on Monday evenings at 7.30pm. The Guild’s meeting on Tuesday will see Elma Barr as their guest speaker with her talk on poetry and readings. The sisterhood meets next Wednesday afternoon, when they will welcome Mrs Helen Russell, who will talk about her role as Depute Lord Lieutenant. Wednesday afternoons prayer group meets at 1pm and the carpet bowls section meets each Monday and Thursday at 2pm. The choir practise is held on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome at all of the organisati­ons and groups. This year’s Christmas craft table top sale will be held on Saturday, November 4, starting at 11am. Tables can be reserved for £10 by contacting Alex Baird on 01698 262915. The popular coffee morning will also take place at the sale, in the small hall, when hot filled rolls will be available. A concert will take place on Saturday, November 11, starting at 7.30pm with Hamilton Caledonian Male Voice Choir providing the entertainm­ent. The funds raised at the concert will go towards the costs of completing the final phase of the Makeover Project - Forward for Jesus which involves replacing the large feature window over the entrance door to the church. Tickets cost £5 (including refreshmen­ts) and these are now available from Jeanette Boyd and Alex Baird. All are welcome to come along to the church on Sunday mornings for worship at 11am. The service is also available live online via the church website (dalzielsta­ndrews. org.uk). British Sign Language (BSL) signing and electronic note taking service is included to assist those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Motherwell and Wishaw Inner Wheel Club President Marjorie welcomed everyone to the Inner Wheel club of Motherwell and Wishaw and was delighted to introduce Julie Ramsay, district chairman from the Musselburg­h club. Julie was also accompanie­d by member of the council Fiona Marwick from the Monklands club and Doreen Henderson from the Corstorphi­ne club. After dinner chairman Julie gave a talk about the purpose of the Inner Wheel, which aims to promote friendship and service in the communitie­s. She also added a little humour to the proceeding­s by means of poetry and Fay Steel gave the vote of thanks. Their next meeting will be held in the Moorings Hotel, Motherwell on November 7. Motherwell Photograph­ic Society The meeting of the club on Thursday evening saw their first projected image competitio­n which was judged by Peter de Demarco, from Eastwood Photograph­ic Society, who is a profession­al photograph­er based in Glasgow. There were 62 entries which Peter examined, critiqued and scored before presenting his findings. The final results were: Riding High by Tom McGinn in first place, with Shore and the Guardian by Paul Millar second, and Ode to Silence by Paul Millar, The Bookworm by Linda Greenhill and Rain Brings Inspired Hope by Paul Millar in equal third place. Peter awarded a highly commended to The Swan by Margaret Dewar. The meeting this Thursday will be the club’s themed competitio­n, where the subject for the projected images will be “urban landscapes” and for the prints “sports”. The entries will be judged, and the eventual winners selected by the members on the night.
