SOAKING IT TO THEM
Calderhead High School’s interhouse quiz took place with the event organised and delivered by the school’s senior pupils.
Students in all four houses (Burns, Fleming, Lochhead and Wallace) took part and competition was fierce, with Burns declared the worthy winner.
The school would like to offer commiserations to all the other house captains who gamely accepted the water forfeit and got soaked in front of the whole school.
Calderhead High School has been involved in fundraising for Malawi for a number of years.
Four pupils from Calderhead – Elizabeth Gentlemen, Morgan Lynch, Heather McCallum and Kate Sutherland – will visit Malawi in June and pupils and staff were involved in fundraising events recently to support this trip.
The school participated in a non-uniform day just before the September weekend and held a staff and pupil charity football match.
Thank you to everyone who helped out with the Malawi fundraisers.
The final total raised was £521.73, all of which will go towards getting Elizabeth, Kate, Morgan and Heather to Malawi.
Senior pupils recently attended the North Lanarkshire Active Schools Sports Ambassador Conference.
The Young Ambassadors are appointed to promote sport, and motivate and inspire other young people to get involved in sport in their schools, clubs and local communities.
Congratulations to Calderhead’s judo star Emma Louise Pringle who won a silver medal at the Judo Scotland Granite City Open competition.
