Shotts earn a second win
Shotts Bon Accord 3 Rossvale ............... 2 Shotts dented high-flying Rossvale’s early season promotion form with their second win of the season.
A Danny Burns double after Kit Cummin’s fourth-minute opener helped the Hannah Park side to victory despite a Rossvale fightback.
Kieran McGuinness’side started strongly when Burns struck the post with a minute gone and three minutes later, the hosts were in front.
Cummins chased down Mark Donnelly in the Rossvale goal and the keeper could only strike the ball off the Shotts forward and it hit the back of the net.
Burns fired over the bar from close range in the dying seconds of the first half as Shotts failed to extend the lead.
Ten minutes into the second-half, Scott Crone was judged to have fouled Gary Giffin in the box and Liam Crichton stepped up to send the penalty home.
Shotts had a penalty of their own two minutes later when Stephen Maguire was fouled by Josh O’Hare.
Burns stepped up to restore the lead and ten minutes later made it 3-1 with a sublime finish from a Maguire cross.
Giffin pulled one back for Rossvale with 15 minutes to go and set up a nervy finish.
The Bonny had Ryan Sullivan sent off for a second yellow in the 93rd minute but Shotts held on and move up to 11th in the Central District First with their second win.
