MOTHERWELL SPECIAL I thought about quitting game ... now I’ve earned a crack at success

available for a move. I returned to Fir Park because I still had time left on my contract but to be honest I was dreading it.

“I started to wonder if I wanted to play football and if it was for me any more.

“My mum and dad helped me a lot and kept me on the right path so I decided just to go back and work even harder.

“I received pointers from Craggs on what to work on because I wanted to show him what I could offer.

“I’ve always been a fan of putting on a bit of a show with flicks and tricks but that needed to change and I needed to become more mature.

“I took on board everything I was told and really started to work hard until I was given a chance to play against Celtic’s 20s just before Christmas last year.

“I played well and was kept in the team and just continued to work hard in training before I was given the chance to train with the first team.

“Before I knew it, we had a few injuries and I was named on the bench against Rangers at Ibrox.

“I didn’t come on but I kept making the right sounds and was always asking the question because ultimately that’s where I want to end up – the first team.

“I was named on the bench against Kilmarnock in the second- last game of the season then came on with about 15 minutes to go.

“The fact I had went from being out of favour at the start of the season to making my debut in such a short space of time was amazing.

“It justified my decision to keep going and I’ve started this season well with the 20s, scoring seven goals from left-back – I’ve never scored before!

“We have a strong squad right now, especially in the wing back areas but I know that if my chance comes around I’ll take it.”
