Caroline looks to strike it lucky
Motherwell’s Caroline Brown hopes it’s third time lucky in her quest for Commonwealth gold in Australia next year.
The 38-year-old bowler reached the quarter-finals at Glasgow 2014 but lost out narrowly, and didn’t medal at Delhi in 2010 either.
Having became the first Scottish female to win the World Cup and achieved a whole host of other accolades Down Under, Caroline hopes that experience stands her in good stead on the Gold Coast.
She said:“I’m aiming for the top, for the gold medal, and I believe I can do it.
“We don’t know our disciplines as of yet, but I’m aiming for the top.
“It would be the top thing to achieve in bowling.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’ve won world titles, but the Commonwealth Games is the pinnacle.
“It’s not an Olympic sport so this is the highest you can get, and to win gold there would be unbelievable.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have been selected again; it’s my third Commonwealth Games so I’m delighted to get another chance at it.
“I didn’t medal in either Delhi or Glasgow and that was disappointing, particularly Glasgow because I was in the quarter-finals but missed out by a shot – it was very close.
“I was disappointed, but regrouped myself and continued to play as many tournaments as I can.
“I’ve played in Australia a few times and it’s one of the best places in the world to bowl.”
