A driving ambition leads to nomination

-

There’s no doubt Danielle Timmins has a real drive to succeed in her career.

The Shotts woman, who works for Arnold Clark, has been nominated for an award at the annual Scottish Apprenticeship Awards, organised by Skills Development Scotland.

Danielle is hoping for a win in the Apprentice Ambassador category.

The 27-year-old is an apprentice recruitment specialist with the car company and prides herself on being a steady point of contact for the business’ apprentices through their journey from intake to completion.

Former beauty therapist Danielle said: “I started doing school visits to promote apprenticeships and realised how much I wanted young people to consider pursuing qualifications like mine. I liked how you could do your job and your qualification at the same time.

“I think a lot of parents want their son or daughter to go to university and don’t realise that they can achieve so much with an apprenticeship, plus they are learning and earning as they go along. It is a meaningful qualification that someone will have for life.”

Arnold Clark apprentice recruitment manager Suzanne Sherry nominated Danielle for the gong.

She said: “Danielle has personally invested in and is passionate about each and every apprentice’s journey which makes her an invaluable asset to our programme.

“She uses her persona l , vocational experience of being an apprentice to promote apprenticeships to the workforce of tomorrow.

I couldn’t think of a more dedicated advocate.

“It’s so inspiring to see how dedicated employers are to apprenticeships and how many hardworking young people benefit from the apprenticeship journey, going on to have long and successful careers in a variety of different industries.

“They really are the future workforce of Scotland.”

The Awards bash will be held at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery on November 16.
