Powerful competition

A new power safety competition for primary schools in North Lanarkshire has been launched by energy firm SP Energy Networks.

Thousands of pupils will be invited to take part in PowerWise Champions, an interactive lesson in the importance of staying safe around electricity, before completing a drawing challenge to win their school the exciting prize which also includes a power safety session from an SP Energy Networks engineer.

The initiative encourages pupils to learn about the importance of staying safe around electricity through a free online educational resource which is available to teachers, parents and kids.

Schools will also be given the opportunity to nominate their PowerWise Champion, a pupil who will be selected as their school’s power safety ambassador and be the individual that passes on their power safety knowledge to their school peers and friends on how to behave in the event of a power cut.
