Shotts Golf Club presented cheques to two charities this week, Lanarkshir­e Cancer Care and Maggie’s Centre Lanarkshir­e. The club has supported these charities over the last few years. Each charity received £2070 from the proceeds of the charity event in August, which was a great success and will hopefully be run again next year. The money raised this year, when added to all the sums raised for charity over the years has taken the total to well over £300,000. The club is very proud of it’s charitable reputation and thanks the people of Shotts and the surroundin­g areas for their support over the years. Calderhead High School parent council meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6pm in the school. Anyone who is a parent or guardian of a pupil at the school, can come along and observe one of their meetings. The parent council also have a new Twitter account “@Calderhead­PC” and the minutes of meetings can be found on the school website. St Patrick’s Opera Group will present “Spamalot” at Howden Park Centre, Livingston until Saturday, November 11. The cast always put on an excellent show and are often mistaken for a profession­al company. However, the group need the support of regulars and new patrons if this year’s show is to be the success it deserves to be. The show contains lots of great music and comical sections, so whether you are a Monty Python fan or not, order your tickets now for what promises to be a great show. Shotts and District Rotary Club have their meetings every Wednesday evening in the Station Hotel, Shotts. The club are now through to round two of the Inter District Club Quiz. EU Congregati­onal Church The church will be open today for prayer and contemplat­ion from 11am until 1pm, with a short service held at 11.30am until 12pm. This is followed by tea and a chat in the large hall. There will be a managers meeting tonight at 7pm. The service on Sunday morning is held at 11.30am, everyone is welcome. Singing group meets on Tuesdays at 7pm. Tickets are now on sale for this year’s Christmas fayre on Saturday, November 25.
