Charity for sick kids and football side join forces

-

Carluke FC Over-35s have teamed up with a Wishaw-based charity who turn fantasy into reality for sick children.

The Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation are in the first year of their support for boss David Goodwin’s side.

Since 1992 the foundation have been supporting children with life-threatening conditions and have landed them meetings with celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Beyonce and the Scottish national football team.

Now they’re backing the Cobras’ 35s team in their pursuit of glory after winning the club’s sponsorship raffle.

The partnership has quickly been a success, with Goodwin’s side already into the quarter-final of the Kenny Parry Cup. They will face East Kilbride YM in the trophy, which is named in honour of their late player who tragically died at the age of just 39 during a match in April 2015.

Goodwin said:“It has been brilliant to have the help and support of a charity such as the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation.

“What they have done for kids dealing with such tough situations can’t be underestimated and they should be saluted for all the work they have done. They have been a joy to work with and I think they have enjoyed working with us too.

“There have already been talks about continuing the sponsorship beyond the end of the current arrangement .”
