who pushed them all the way.

The game was level going into injury time at the end of the first half when Wishaw snatched the lead.

After a foul in the penalty area Vinnie McGuire stepped up and made no mistake from the spot.

It was the perfect time to score and Wishaw went in at half-time with their noses in front.

However, Rangers were still determined to force their way back into the tie and won a penalty of their own.

Greig Callaghan equalised and Arniston fans felt their side was in the ascendency.

Wishaw were not to be denied and made sure they stayed in the cup with 10 minutes to spare thanks to two quickfire goals from their in-form strikers.

Vinnie McGuire scored to make it 2-1 before Ross McGeachie put the game beyond Arniston just three minutes later, sending the travelling support into ecstasy.

But Arniston did not let their heads go down and made sure of a nervous last five minutes for Brogan’s side when Andy Watson made it 3-2.

Wishaw boss John Brogan last week admitted he was relieved to still be in the Scottish Cup after surrendering a one-goal lead in the first tie but was delighted with his players this time around.

He said: “We played very well. I thought we thoroughly deserved it.

“To be honest we should have won more easily than we did but I will take just getting through.”

Wishaw will turn their attention to the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup this Saturday when they face Central District Two side Vale of Clyde.

The away tie, at Fullarton Park, kicks off at 2pm.
