Christmas kicks off

-

Pupils and staff at Wishaw Academy Primary helped get everyone in the festive mood with their Kick Off to Christmas show.

Staged over three performances, the youngsters had the place rocking to all the old favourites during their Coffee, Cake and Christmas Songs spectacular.

Held in the school yesterday, more than 600 family and friends enjoyed songs ranging from Last Christmas, Somewhere Only We Know to When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney.

The event was a total sell-out and every member of the school’s 312 roll was involved in the production.

“It was a fantastic show and well worth all the effort everyone put in,” said head teacher Catherine Barr.

“The children had a ball belting out the tunes and the visitors all said how much they had enjoyed it.”

The tea bar and cake stall were kept extra busy throughout the day and Catherine thanked everyone who helped out to make it all go smoothly.

“Parents and friends helped to keep the tea and coffee flowing and events like this couldn’t happen without everyone pulling together to make it a success.

“It was a great experience and another part of the learning curve for the pupils and, once again, I would like to thank all the staff in the school, parents and pupils for all their hard work and effort. Everyone had a ball.”
