Roller coaster fun on Paris trip
S2 and S3 pupils enjoyed a three day trip to Disneyland Paris where they obtained an insight into how mathematics can be used outside of the classroom.
Pupils got the opportunity to participate in a workshop where they had to design a roller coaster using information provided in the seminars and present their design to the rest of the group.
While in Disneyland, all pupils enjoyed the thrilling rides that both Disney parks had to offer with “Hyper Space Mountain” being a favourite
Pupils also enjoyed a night out at the famous Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and evening meals in popular Disney restaurants. A fun time was had by all including the staff who accompanied them.
Pantomime trip
Pupils from S1–S3 recently enjoyed a visit to the King’s Theatre in Glasgow to watch this year’s Christmas panto, ‘Sleeping Beauty’. All the pupils had a fantastic time.
Christmas Fayre
A big thank you to everyone who helped out with, attended or donated to the recent Christmas Fayre, which raised £770.
There are also a few more raffle prizes which will hopefully raise some more money over the next few days.
The funds will go towards the forthcoming trip to Malawi and the event was planned and organised by the Malawi group (Kate, Elizabeth, Morgan and Heather) with help from Mr. Leitch and other staff.
The pupils need to raise a total of £8000 between them in order for the trip to go ahead.
So far they have raised £ 5040, including a grant received from the Lanarkshire Educational Trust Scheme and initial fundraising undertaken by the group members.
They will be doing more individual external fundraising but still need the ongoing support of the school community to reach their target. Well done to everyone involved.
