Robbo’s Steelmen fail to Kill Clarke’s side off

Good performance but no points for ‘Well

Kilmarnock ................... 1 Motherwell ................... 0

David Wren Alex Fisher insists Motherwell must start making their dominance in games count after losing 1-0 to Killie on Saturday.

The defeat was Well’s fourth on the bounce as they slip further down the Premiership table, with Saturday’s opponents hot on their heels.

Stephen Robinson’s men could count themselves unlucky on Saturday after they dominated the game for long spells but couldn’t make their pressure count.

And Fisher insists his side must find a better way to grind out results when they’re on the front foot.

He said: “We do create a lot of chances. We get the ball into dangerous areas pretty often.

“The outside world will see that we lost 1-0 on Saturday, but I would be interested to see our possession stats and shots on goal compared to theirs.

“Of course, we do need to be clinical in putting away those chances, but we do put the ball in dangerous positions.

“Every time we went forward at Kilmarnock, I felt we were going to create an opportunity.

“We had a couple of goalmouth scrambles where it didn’t fall for us, but there were a couple of chances that were more within our control and those are the ones we have got to be putting away.”

Ryan Bowman could have given his side the lead inside five minutes when he made life difficult for Kirk Broadfoot but his effort was blocked.
