Tait: We need to look at ourselves in mirror

Motherwell ................... 1 Hamilton Accies ........... 3

Andy McGilvray Defender Richard Tait says everybody at Motherwell needs to take a sobering look in the mirror after slumping to a 3- 1 derby defeat against Hamilton on Saturday.

Craig Tanner’s early strike were cancelled out by a Dougie Imrie penalty and second half strikes from Rakish Bingham and Greg Docherty.

Tait was enormously frustrated by the defeat as Motherwell blew a chance to move seven points clear of their Lanarkshire rivals, and are instead now only one ahead.

He said: “It’s a hard one to take. We didn’t deserve anything from the game, the way we played in the second half, I thought we were terrible.

“We’ll go away in the break and have a good, long, hard look at ourselves. I think we need to do that, and use the break to come back with a fresh mind-set and a fresh body.

“We didn’t turn up in the second half, and we didn’t deserve anything from the game.

“It was a good start; Tanner’s got the goal and it was great work from Ryan Bowman and we were in the driving seat.

“I don’t think it was a penalty, the referee has said his [Peter Hartley] hand is in the air, but if you look at anyone who does a slide tackle, one hand has to go in the air – but he gave it, we have to deal with that, and it’s not the reason why we lost the game.

“We lost the game because we were terrible in the second half.

“We have to learn from this, and quickly. As you see, the table can swing very quickly,
