Holly is all set to hit the catwalk
Wishaw teenager Holly MacLean is sitting pretty after winning through to the semi- finals of a national modelling competition.
Clyde Valley High School pupil Holly, 15, has been named as a semi-finalist in the annual Miss Teen Great Britain Modelling Contest after mum, Lesley, nominated her.
Holly, of Overtown, has beaten off competition from hundreds of other girls aged between 10 and 19 from the length and breadth of the UK to win through to the semis.
“In the Wishaw Press last year, I read about a wee girl from Wishaw who got through in this contest and thought I’d send in Holly’s pictures,” explained Lesley, a secretary at Airbles Road Hospital.
“She has never modelled before, although she danced at the world championships and has been a cheerleader and she’s really interested in fashion.”
Fourth year pupil Holly will learn by April whether she has earned a place in the grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain, which will be held at The Globe in Blackpool in October.
There girls from across Great Britain will compete for the coveted crown and spectacular prizes, including £1000.
The weekend of the Miss Teen Great Britain final is set to be full of fun, with finalists enjoying a Beauty Queen Challenge Day and a pyjama diva party.
Mum Lesley laughed: “She is a wee redhead. But if anyone calls her ‘ginger,’ she says: ‘I am strawberry blonde!’
“Holly always keeps herself quite calm, although she is secretly excited to be through to the semi-finals and looks now and again at the pageant site.
“She has not told any of her friends she got to the semi-finals. I am really quite proud of her. It has given her a wee lease of life.”
Last year, the Miss Teen Great Britain Modelling Contest raised £ 33,000 for Together for Short Lives – a leading UK charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.
