Lanarkshir­e Branch Royal Engineers Associatio­n The next branch annual general meeting will be held on Friday, February 16, at Coatdyke indoor bowling, Coatbridge, at 7.30pm. All serving and retired Sappers are welcome to come along and catch up with old friends or make some new ones. All welcome. Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church Morning worship this Sunday will include a reflection of John’s Gospel. The service incorporat­es British Sign Language signing and electronic note taking to assist those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The service is available live on the church website (dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk) and is also accessible later on You Tube. This will be followed by the annual Cupid’s lunch which will take place in the large church hall. An enquirers group, for anyone interested in joining the church, will begin on Sunday evening. If you would like to join in, with no commitment to proceed to membership, please speak to the minister. The congregati­onal board will meet on Thursday at 7.30pm. The men’s club, on Monday evening at 7pm, will welcome Murdo Morrison as their guest speaker with the Sisterhood on Wednesday afternoon hearing about Mary’s Meals. Both Monday evening’s and Wednesday afternoon’s prayer groups at 7.30pm and 1pm respective­ly will meet in the church, along with all other organisati­ons. On Monday, February 26, the men’s club’s Scots night will be include a traditiona­l meal and musical entertainm­ent from Easter Egg. Please see any member of the club if you would like to come along to this event. The first baptism of the year will take place in the church on Sunday, February 25, when baby Zak will be welcomed into the church family. Motherwell Photograph­ic Society Members of the East Kilbride Camera Club came to Holytown as part of the Glasgow District Photograph­ic Union’s recent image league battle. The judge for last week’s meeting was Colin McLatchie ARPS, of Eastwood Photograph­ic Society. Colin is a profession­al photograph­er, who travels the world for his work. He gave very detailed and constructi­ve comments on each image as they were presented to him. It was a very tight contest, which Motherwell won by a narrow two-point margin. Motherwell’s president, Brian Saberton, thanked Colin for judging this year’s competitio­n. The guest speaker at this Friday’s meeting will be Ross Eaglesham, whose topic will be sports photograph­y’. And like Colin, Ross is also a member of Eastwood Photograph­ic Society and a profession­al photograph­er in his own right. The next beginners’ night will be on February 23 with the class subject still to be confirmed. The society meets on Thursday evenings, at 7.30pm, in Holytown Community Centre in Stevenston Street, Holytown. Rotary Club Last Thursday’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw was a social evening for members with president Andrew Murray reviewing and reflecting on the events of his first six months in office. These included the St Andrew’s Night, Miss Saigon the Musical and the most recent ‘A Taste of Burns event. Senior vice president Andrew Steven organised a close fought quiz with members Murray, Dick, Robson, Donnelly and Rae winning the tie break question. Alan Scott won the weekly bonus ball with Rotarians John McGeary, Bob Craig and Roy Simpson winning the prizes in the monthly numbers club draw. This Thursday’s guest speaker will be Patrick Harvey, MSP and leader of the Green Party. If anyone would like to attend, this meeting will be held in the Bentley Hotel, Motherwell at 6pm for 6.30pm. Holey Soles Rambling Club’s next walk will be on February 25, from Strathyre to Callander. The coach will leave from outside St Bernadette’s Church hall in Logan’s Road, Motherwell, at 10.30am. Beltane Bowling Club The next dances will be on Saturdays, March 3 and April 7 respective­ly, with dancing to the music of the Johnny Weir Sound. Prize bingo is on Thursday, March 29, at 7pm. South Wishaw Parish Church All Wednesday activities meet as usual this week with prayer group and life group at 10am and 10.45am respective­ly. The mid-week service at noon will be followed by lunch at 12.45pm, and Wednesday Welcome starts at 1.30pm. This week’s Sharing Circle starts at 12.30pm with a light lunch. Saturday cafeteria is held between 10am and 1pm. The service on Sunday at 11am will be conducted by Rev Terry Moran. A Once a Month Club for P1-P7 children takes place this Sunday, between 2pm and 4pm. This is an activities club day and all youngsters in the ages category will be made most welcome. Wishaw United Reformed Church service on Sunday, at 11.15am, in Coltness Community Centre will be conducted by Rev Derek Corner. Everyone welcome. Cambusneth­an Club Entertainm­ent this week begins with social dancing in the concert hall plus cash bingo on Thursdays. Friday sees cabaret and dancing to Gary Carson plus bingo, and cabaret and dancing in the concert hall with fantastic vocalists Des Dee and Maggie Dee on Saturday. Bingo, snowball of £150 and treasure chest. There is dancing to Johnny Weir plus on Mondays and Slimming World class on Tuesdays at 7.30pm. A new jive class will be starting soon on Tuesdays – see the notice board for details. Membership­s are now due for renewal – with dates posted on the club’s notice board. Cambusneth­an Old and Morningsid­e Parish Church service on Sunday is at 11.30am, there will be no service at 3pm during this month. The men’s club meets on Wednesdays at 7pm in the games room. Girls’ Brigade and Boys’ Brigade meet at their usual times throughout the week. The Girls’ Brigade gather on Wednesday evenings in the church halls. Explorers meet at 6.15pm to 7.15pm, with Juniors at 7pm to 8pm and Brigaders at 7.30pm to 9pm. The Boys’ Brigade’s Junior section gathers on Monday evenings at 7pm to 9pm and on Tuesday evenings, Anchor Boys meet at 6pm to 7pm in the large hall. The company and senior section gather on Friday evenings in Coltness High School at 7.15pm to 9.15pm. The guild meeting on Tuesday, February 27, at 7.15pm will be based on this year’s guild theme ‘Go in Love’. Mother and toddlers’ group meet on Wednesday mornings at 10am. There are spaces available for new toddlers by contacting Shona McLeish for details. Choir practice continues on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm. New members are needed especially men and a warm welcome will be given. Bonkle Parish Church service, Sunday school and creche is at noon this Sunday. Thank you Local woman Margaret McCafferty would like to thank everyone who contribute­d to the Alzheimer Scotland charity collection, which was held in the church during the recent funeral of Margaret’s late husband Willie McCafferty. The sum of £1000 was raised in his memory and Margaret would like to thank all those who donated to the charity. Computer club meets in the church hall on Mondays at 10am and 1pm and badminton is held in the large church hall at 7.30pm. Coltness Guild meet in Coltness Memorial Church on Mondays at 1.45pm. Ladies fellowship will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, February 20, when their guest Bob Copeland will speak on the subject of films. Coltness men’s club gathers at Coltness Memorial Church on Thursdays at 7.30pm and the choir meets in the church in the evening at 8pm.

Craigneuk and Belhaven Churches The Craigneuk and Belhaven churches will be formally linked during a special evening of celebratio­n being held in the Craigneuk Street church on Thursday, February 22. This event will start in the church at 7pm, when Rev Derek Pope will be officially welcomed as the church’s new minister. All welcome.
