The committee have organised their gala day Easter party on Sunday, March 25, from 1pm to 4pm in the Springhill Marble Club with Loony Toons Disco providing the entertainm­ent. Attraction­s will include hot dogs, raffles and a visit from the Easter bunny! Tickets cost £4 and are available from any committee member. EU Congregati­onal Church The morning service on Sunday morning, is held at 11.30am, everyone is welcome. Singing group meets in the church on Tuesdays at 7pm. Salvation Army Corps the friendship club meets on Tuesdays, from 1pm to 3pm. The youth club meets on Wednesdays, at 6pm to 8pm. The toddlers’ group is held on Thursdays, from 9.30am to 11.30am and the prayer meeting meets in the evenings, at 7pm. Friday club gathers at 5.45pm to 6.45pm followed by the JAM Club from 6.45pm to 7.45pm. The Sunday morning meeting at 10.45am will be led this week by Lieutenant Amy-Jo Battersby. Everyone is welcome. The Silver Tree coffee morning takes place on Saturday, February 24, from 10am to noon. Lodge St John 471 The next meeting will be on Friday, February 23, at 7.30pm in the orange hall. The business of the evening will be an FC degree conferred by the RWM and office bearers of Lodge St John Crofthead no 374. Community council meets on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings. Slimming group has classes every Wednesday at 9.30am, 5pm and 7pm in Epic Studios, Shottskirk Road (above Ladbrokes at Dykehead Cross). Everyone going along will be made most welcome. Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm is for ages eight to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12 noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds at 6pm to 7.30pm. On Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and upwards. Additional classes can be scheduled based on demand. The project’s thrift shop at 261 Station Road is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10am to 3pm; and the warehouse at 100 Calderhead Road is open Monday to Friday, at 9.30pm to 4pm. Advice and informatio­n is available on issues such as DSS benefits, aids and adaptation­s, home assessment­s, housing benefit and council tax. Home visits can be arranged for people who are housebound and unable to access services. Calderhead Erskine Church The Kirk Session has now appointed Rev Iain Murdoch as locum minister for Shotts Calderhead Erskine Parish Church of Scotland. Adult learning Short employabil­ity courses on CV preparatio­n, preparing for job interviews and job searches are held in Shotts community centre on Kirk Road, on Tuesday mornings, at 9.30am to 11.30am. English support classes, adult literacy and numeracy support classes and an introducti­on to computer courses will be held in Newmains, Pather, Shotts and Harthill. Shotts Ironworks Bowling Club The ladies annual general meeting will be held this afternoon (Wednesday) at 3pm. Entertainm­ent this week begins with bingo and dancing to In Touch on Saturday, with dancing to Johnny Weir on February 24. Membership fees should be paid at the club by the following day, April 20. The seniors’ AGM will take place on April 25, at 6.30pm. To mark the club’s 150th anniversar­y, which will be celebrated on July 21, the club are offering an introducto­ry half price offer of £60 for this year for any new members. However, this membership package does not include playing in any competitio­ns, with full membership including all competitio­ns costing £120. As this is a special year the clubhouse requires some painting and repairs to be done and requests all its members to meet at the club on Sunday, February 25, at 2pm to get things started. Bon Accord Club Bingo will be played on Wednesday and Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 10pm. Carol Paris will be appearing in the lounge at 9pm on Saturday night. The Jerseytone­s and Donna Glass will be playing in the big hall at 8.15pm on Saturday, March 17. Entry to this event is by ticket only. A public meeting, organised by Shotts Community Council will be held in the club on Wednesday, February 28, at 7.30pm. Computer Basics A class will be held in Harthill Community Centre between 6pm and 8pm every Monday. Aimed at absolute beginners, it will give you an introducti­on into using a computing. Mothers and toddlers group meets in the church on Tuesday mornings at 9.30am, with the women’s guild meeting in the church that afternoon at 2pm. Street dance classes are held in the church hall on Thursday nights at 6pm to 7pm and from 7pm to 8pm. William Memorial LOL 152 are holding an orange ball this Saturday, in Pather Community Centre on Caledonian Road, Wishaw. Members attending from Allanton are reminded that the bus will leave from Allanton Primary School at 5.15pm, picking up at the church, in Newmains and Cambusneth­an Colquhoun. Miners’ Social Club The country music night on Saturday will see the entertainm­ent provided by Stillwater, and there is dancing to Bill McFarlane on Sunday nights; entry costs £3. There is a metafit class on Tuesday nights at 7pm, and on Thursday nights there is a double session of bingo followed by play your cards right. The sensationa­l Lorna Dolan will be singing in the lounge on Saturday, February 10, entry costs £3. A special thank you is extended to everyone who came along and supported their recent charity night, in aid of Alzheimer’s Scotland. The committee would like to thank all the local shops and anyone who donated prizes, and especially to Carol and Billy for the outstandin­g entertainm­ent.
