Young swim­mers get their re­wards

Mother­well and Wishaw Swim Team re­cently held their an­nual pre­sen­ta­tion night in the United Ser­vices Club in Mother­well.

The fol­low­ing awards were pre­sented in recog­ni­tion of achieve­ments at the An­nual Club Cham­pi­onships.

Swim­mers in each cat­e­gory won over­all in a points sys­tem, gained by swim­ming in each stroke – front, back, but­ter­fly, breast and in­di­vid­ual med­ley.

Over­all win­ners: 9 and un­der girls, Mor­gan Dunn; 9 and un­der boys: Ruben Pear­son; 10/ 11 girls, Amy Fother­ing­ham; 10/11 boys, Ruar­idh Welsh; 12/13 girls, Holly Welsh; 12/13 boys, Luke Doyle; 13/ 14 girls, Kate Hughes; 13/14 boys, An­drew Smythe; 16 and over girls, Carla Braw­ley; 16 and over boys, Craig McRoberts.

Spe­cial awards were also pre­sented to the fol­low­ing: Ju­nior En­deav­our Award, Mia Per­ri­man and Cae­lan Ton­ner; Se­nior En­deav­our Award: Milly Donnnachie, Scott and Rob­bie MacFar­lane (twins); Per­for­mance of the Gala Award: Amy Fother­ing­ham for break­ing the club record for 50m But­ter­fly; Spe­cial Achieve­ment Award, Lo­gan Smith for win­ning two golds and two sil­ver medals at the Spe­cial Olympics held in Sh­effield at the end of last year.

The club have al­ready started com­pet­ing this year, at­tend­ing West District of Scot­land Cham­pi­onships, and other mi­nor com­pe­ti­tions with great re­sults.

Some swim­mers have now reached qual­i­fy­ing times to com­pete at the Scot­tish Na­tional Swim­ming Cham­pi­onships at Toll­cross in March.

The club are also at­tend­ing a week long train­ing camp be­ing held in St An­drews later this year.
