Perfect Cup showing
Motherwell gaffer Stephen Robinson was delighted with his side’s all-round team performance as they battled past Dundee into the next round.
“We did the simple things very well,” he said.“We played most of the game in their half of the pitch and then played some very attractive football.
“It was a fantastic performance. The forward boys were a real threat all afternoon. Nads, Curtis and Tanner all did well.
“Saves like Trevor Carson’s (at 1- 0) and defensive performances like Charles Dunne’s, all that needs to come together to win football matches. Every player on the pitch was very good.”
Robinson was pleased Ciftci refused to get drawn into an ongoing battle with Dundee’s defence, but is still hoping for a higher work-rate from him and goalscorer Craig Tanner.
He said:“Tanner’s record when he starts, he scores a lot of goals. I still think he can work harder and we can get more out of him. That’s testament to him because he’s scoring a lot and creating a lot of goals.
“Same as Nadir. If we get those two working even harder then who knows where that can take us.
“Nadir was involved in everything because he was holding the ball up for us, he was taking a lot of pressure off us.
“His talent is unquestionable, I think you saw today his attitude was excellent as well. He didn’t get involved with anything.”
