Calderhead High School Parent Council meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6pm in the school. If you are a parent or guardian of a pupil, you can come along and observe one of their meetings. The Parent Council also have a Twitter account “@Calderhead­PC” and the minutes of meetings can be found on the school’s website. The committee has organised their gala day Easter party on Sunday, from 1pm till 4pm in the Springhill Marble Club with Loony Toons Disco. Attraction­s on the day will include hot dogs, raffles and there will also be a visit from the Easter Bunny! Tickets are £4 and are available from any committee member. 3rd Shotts Scout Group The Scout hall at 100 Benhar Road, Shotts, is available for organisati­ons in the community and requests should be made to Mrs Mary Lees (Group Scout Leader) on 01501 821658. Shotts and District Rotary Club have their meetings every Wednesday evening in the Station Hotel, Shotts. For further informatio­n about Rotary Club contact David McCloy, secretary, on 0796120487­1. EU Congregati­onal Church morning service is on Sunday at 11.30am and the singing group meets on Tuesdays at 7pm. Tickets are still on sale for the Mr and Mrs quiz and general quiz night taking place at the church at 7pm tonight. Salvation Army Corps the friendship club meets on Tuesdays, at 1pm to 3pm. On Wednesdays, the youth club members gather from 6pm to 8pm and the toddlers’ group is on Thursdays from 9.30am to 11.30am. The prayer meeting is on Thursday evenings at 7pm and the Friday Club at 5.45pm is followed by the JAM Club at 6.45pm. The Sunday morning meeting at 10.45am is led by Lieutenant Amy-Jo Battersby and the evening meeting is a Cafe Church at 6pm, led by Captain Steven Baken. Bon Accord Club Bingo will be played on Wednesday and Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 10pm. Bingo is played tonight (Wednesday) and Friday, both at 8pm. A guest artist will be playing in the lounge at 9pm on Saturday, followed by bingo at 10pm. Liz Sloan’s acts will entertain at the club in aid of the Moira Anderson Foundation on Sunday, May 27. 32 Social Club has entertainm­ent for members and guests as follows: Tickets are now on sale for the LOL 9 and LOL 91’s cabaret show and dance with “Feeva” on Saturday, March 31. Shotts Bowling Club has bingo at 8pm on Thursday evenings, as usual. Lodge St John 471 The next regular meeting is at 7.30pm on Friday in the orange hall. The business of the evening will include an FC degree which will be conferred by the Right Worshipful Master and office-bearers of Lodge Murdostoun Castle No. 1096. Slimming group has classes every Wednesday at 9.30am, 5pm and 7pm in Epic Studios, Shottskirk Road (above Ladbrokes at Dykehead Cross). It offers art classes for all ages on Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm for ages youngsters aged eight to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12 noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds at 6pm to 7.30pm. Wishaw, Murdostoun and Fortissat Community Forum meets monthly on the last Thursday of each month at 6.30pm. The group welcomes representa­tives from each of the areas, which includes the greater Shotts area. If you represent a community group, do please come along. Calderhead Erskine Church The Kirk Session has appointed Rev Iain Murdoch as locum minister for Shotts Calderhead Erskine Parish Church of Scotland. Marble Club bingo is held in the lounge on Sundays at 1.30pm, and on Mondays and Thursdays in the main hall at 9pm. The club is available for all types of functions. Ironworks Bowling Club the next committee meeting is being held in the club at the usual time on Tuesday, March 27. Bingo and dancing to In Touch is being held on March 31 with Harvest providing the entertainm­ent on April 7, and the seniors’ annual general meeting is at 7.30pm on April 3. Members are reminded to submit their slips for the upcoming competitio­ns as otherwise they will not be eligible to play.
