Camera Club The members of Carluke Camera Club were treated to a fabulous presentation, “And now for something completely different”, by David Sadler, of Dundee Photographic Society at their meeting last week. And how completely different and also stimulating it was! David described how, as people become more proficient in the technical aspects of photography, they can so easily lose their initial enthusiasm, imagination and creativity. But David certainly had not lost his creativity as he then went on to show everyone his amazing variety of digital images, largely of every day life events, all of which impressed with their striking impact which had been achieved, both by clever, imaginative composition and the subtle use of wide “fish-eye” lenses. After the break, David showed a remarkable and fastmoving audio visual presentation of a single day in his own life. An absolutely spectacular evening was greatly enjoyed by all. This Friday, Boyd Meiklejohn, from Ayr Photographic Society, will judge the sixth club Mono Print competition. Trefoil Guild The group’s last meeting on March 13 in the Carluke Guide hall saw the members enjoying a talk from their guest speaker Lynn Weir, who was introduced to everyone before going on to discuss her recent experience of “walking in Peru”. This was an interesting and enjoyable night and Lynn received a sincere vote of thanks for her visit by president Ruby Mitchell. The guild will close for their current session on April 10.
