Ryan Smillie adding in the second half. Yoker salvaged some pride late on with a Greg Maitland free kick.

The opening exchanges were like a well played chess match as both sides probed for an opening without much give.

Yoker thought they had taken opened the scoring on 22 minutes.

Maitland floated a corner in from the left and Kerr Allan nodded back for Gary Bissland to volley home.

Luckily for Wishaw whistler William Wilson blew insisting Allan had fouled his marker in the build up.

Right on half- time Dan Kindlan tumbled in the box under Stephen Howie with the ref pointing to the spot.

Keeper Thomson stepped up to send his opposite number Liam Campbell the wrong way to net.

After the break Wishy were two to the good as Kindlan sent in a corner that the unmarked Coffey rose to nod home and give the visitors a bit of breathing space.

Yoker should have been back in it when Craig Crawford floored Rory McKinnon for a penalty.

Thomson managed to save the spot kick from Ryan Hynes to cap a memorable performance for the number one.

The match was all but over on 68 minutes as Smillie touched past Campbell to edge even closer to the next round.

With just three minutes to play, Yoker produced a late rally with Maitland scoring an unstoppable free kick to save face.

It was too little too late and Wishaw sealed their big tie with Super League Premier Division side Rob Roy.

Wishaw Juniors club secretary Robert Watson said: “This was an absolutely brilliant result for a wee club like us.

“We think the last time we reached the quarter- finals was in the 46/ 47 season so it’s been at least 60 years since we made it this far.

“We played them in this cup a few years ago and beat them and at home we have an advantage. It has the makings of being the biggest crowd at the Beltane for many years.”
