Youth set for takeover

-

Newmains kids got their chance to have their say on the future of the NCT Centre.

Pupils from Newmains, St Brigid’s and Morningside Primary Schools gathered at the centre to give their thoughts on what activities and groups they would like to see at the centre.

NCT programme development manager Mary-Anne McCafferty told the Wishaw Press the kids weren’t slow in voicing their opinions on what they would like to see at th the centre.

She said: “The kids all got very involved w which was great to see.

“They were quite forceful with what they were looking to see and what groups they would like to see run within the centre. They also showed a lot of concern about issues within the community.

“They all got up and took part in the various activities on the day.

“It was very successful and we thank all of them for attending.

The children also had a visit from Police Scotland, firefighters from Scottish Fire & Rescue plus members of Socialtrack in Wishaw which have been coaching at the newly developed bike track in Wishawhill Wood and all left the consultation with a goody bag.

Mary-Anne added: “Events like this are absolutely pivotal to the work of the NCT Centre.

“There is no point in us putting on activities or classes if people are not going to turn up. It allows people to take ownership of the centre and hopefully we will have something for everyone.”
